As usual it has been a bit since I have posted. The first order of business is the birth of our son Kyle and his wife Mackenzie's first child and our third grandchild. Silas William made his entrance at 11:33 on the morning of June 19th. He weighed in at 9 pounds even and was 21 and a half inches long and has a head of light brown hair. Of course he is just perfect and we are going to keep him!!! Here is a picture of my DH and myself on Father's Day with Silas.
Now on to some stitching, finishing, a bit of crafting and some thrift store shopping.
I stitched up this Erica Michaels design from a book called Signs of Summer. The design itself is called Liberty Garden. I stitched in on some coffee dyed 28 count fabric with DMC threads. I decided to make it into a pillow. I am very happy with the results. This was the start of my 4th of July theme.
This is a freebie pattern that I have wanted to stitch for sometime. I mentioned in a previous post that I had stitched this design and the day after I finished the stitching I received this same design from Michele for my summer exchange from her. I turned my design into a pin pillow. It was stitched on 28 count antique white with DMC variations 4150, 4210 and 4240.
Last Friday Jill and I went to our LNS for the Lizzie Kate Summer Fob. I had to have the scissors!!! I decided to finish my edges with beads as I was having issues with the ribbon I was going to use.
Jill and I also made ourselves a stitcher's lap desk. The top has a magnetic board and the bottom has a bean bag base. I think it turned out pretty good and it didn't cost me $80, which is about how much they are to purchase from the LNS.
Now on to my thrift shop finds. I bought this vase to hold my 8 inch Gingher designer scissors. I think it is just the right size as long as I don't buy anymore 8 inch scissors!!!!!:)
This doesn't happen very often at the thrift shop, but I found this piece of linen which was 24 x 26 inches in size and cost 99 cents but because it was 25% off Monday I got the piece for 74 cents.
This piece of 32 count linen was 18 x 27 and was $1.99 originally but after the discount was $1.12!!! I have to tell you I love those kinds of bargains:)
Again thanks for stopping by and Happy Stitching.
I also want to thank my DD Kelsey for the blog face lift.
