I had a chance to get to some finishing and I guess some
creating done today.
First I stitched Always and Forever by Little House
Needleworks for our 30th anniversary. I decided to
finish it as a flat-fold. I think it turned out quite nice.
And I even got it done before May 6th, which is our
30th anniversary!!!
Then I made some more soldered pendants. I just love the way they turned out. This first one is of my grandparents. It was taken in April of 1930, just two months before they were married.
The cross was given to me by my grandmother when I had my first child. She received it when she had my dad. The heart locket also came from her. I really cherish this pendant. I think it is a great way to display an heirloom, it's not hidden away in a cedar chest.
Then I tried my hand at a few more pendants. I did
a pressed leaf. The middle picture came from an
antique shop--thought someone could say it was
their grandmother as a child!!! And the last picture
is of my grandson.
I really think these would make great gifts, especially if they were made from pictures of your own family. I just may start a little business doing just that for others.
So now I am going to try to get my Christmas ornament SAL done before the end of the month.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and keep stitching.

Here's to Ewe Received
I received my Here's to Ewe Exchange on Thursday.
It was a wonderful exchange from Outi. It was a Mosey'n'Me
design called "Ewephoria". It was finished as a pillow/pincushion.
I really like the color of the fabric and fibers.
Outi did a great jobin the finishing.
She also sent some goodies--a chart of her own design "Lumikukkia",
and hand dyed fibers: a silk- Mango Tango by Dinky Dyes and Appletini
by The Dye Is Cast. They are both very "springy".
Thank you so much Outi you sent and great exchange.

Garden Theme Exchange
I was so excited to come home from work today and find a package.
It was from Wanda. She had my name for the Garden Theme exchange.
She stitched me a wonderful needle roll. It was a Brightneedle Freebie
design--stitched one over one. I just love it.
She also included a piece of fabric--(good for finishes) a candle, lotion,
a file, some stickers and most importantly a skein of Silk N' Colors and
a Kelmscott Love scissors, which I have been wanting.
Thanks so much Wanda, I am really happy with all you sent and the time
you took to stitch the needle roll.
Happy Stitching.

New Gingher Scissors---FREEDOM
I am so excited. Today my friend Chris asked me to go on a road trip
to St. Cloud. We decided to go to Crafts Direct and Joann's.
We hit the Bonanza for lunch, and off shopping.
After our visit to Crafts Direct and the St. Cloud Joann's,
we decided to stop at the Joann's in Maple Grove. Whenever
we visit Joann's we check out the Ginghers, and low and behold
we hit the mother load----a brand new Gingher scissors--FREEDOM.
We couldn't believe it because we had no idea Gingher was even
releasing a new scissors, since they had just released the Emma's
a couple of weeks ago. We cleaned out two Joann's of their Freedom's
and I checked out two more Joann's to see if we could find anymore,
but no luck. I had been to five Joann's today. And the best news was
all their scissors were 50% off!!!!
So now the Stitching Squad all have a new scissor for our collection.
Here is a picture of our new acquisition:
All in all it was a very good shopping day!!!

New Finishes
I have been wanting to do a box finish, so I dug
up this piece I had stitched quite awhile ago. I
used Vonna's idea to use styrofoam. I think the
result was pretty good. It was also my first attempt
at a bow.
Then I wanted to try my hand at a floss tag
and teardropfloss holders. I used poster
board for some of the floss holders,
but decided that I wanted something
that might hold up a bit better.
So I bought some light weight plastic
that is used to cut out stencils.
The plastic worked real well.
I am happy with all of my projects this weekend.
Thanks to Staci for the floss tag tutorial and to Wawanna
for the teardrop floss holder tutorial.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and keep stitching.
