Cathy B organized a stitching day on Saturday at Rosebud's Cottage-- quilt shop in White Bear Lake, MN which has a very nice classroom. So I got to spend sometime with some of my close stitching buds and some new ones.
Here is a picture of the group.
We had a little show and tell at the stitching event. I wish I would have taken a picture of all the goodies but I did get a picture of Jill and my Busy Needle pillows.
So while I was there I was working on this project. It is the Little House Needleworks and Shakespeare's Peddler "2012 Nashville exclusive kit" I started "Gentle Stitches" on Friday and finished it up Saturday night. I started "Stitchers heart" on Sunday and finished it up this morning.
Then I got busy this morning and did the finishing. Here is my Gentle Stitches roll. I finished it a bit different from the instructions. I cut a piece of wool felt and rolled it up. Then I turned the sides in and also folded up and long ends so when I wrapped the stitching around the wool the ends would meet.
I did finish the ends with wool as instructed.
I added a magnet to the inside of the roll where the spool of thread was stitched.
Then I finished the Stitcher's Heart. I also did my own thing when finishing this heart. I put some interfacing on the back of the stitching and the backing fabric and I machine stitched the piece, left an opening on the side of the heart and then stuffed it and hand sewed the opening closed.
Again I put a magnet on the inside of the pillow where the work needle was. I just like that little added effect. The fabric in the back ground is what I used on the back of the pillow. I thought it matched the piece almost perfectly:)

Here are both of the pieces. I stitched them on 32 count Country French Chantilly with the threads provided in the kit. This was a fun and pretty quick stitch. I really enjoyed stitching them.

Wow! You're fast! They turned out great! Love that heart from Little House.
Your needle must have been smoking! Love both of your finishes and love the little magnet detail for your needle. Very clever.
Stitching with friends always makes your stitches sweeter... looks like y'all had a good time.
happy stitching....
Beautiful stitching as always; I love the LHN new chart; it's diffidently on my "to do" list. I just recieved my Busy Needle pattern today; can't wait to get it done..
Hugs, Shar
Oh wow Joan - your two pieces look wonderful! I've seen that kit and while I loved the heart, I wasn't too impressed with the needle roll - maybe because the colors didn't look as bright as what you've stitched. I think I'm going to have to rethink a purchase because I love yours!
Love those two new pieces ~ great job!
Wow!!!!!!! Such gorgeous finishes! Talk about hot off the press!!! Great job and thanks for sharing!!!
WOW! Both pieces are beautiful and I love the finishing.
I am always impressed by the way in which you finish your projects...each and everyone is lovely! What fun to meet at Rosebud's cottage! Can't wait to see her new digs when I visit next summer!
Gorgeous finishes.
They both look very good, i love your idea with the magnet.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs Yvon.

Congratulations of two beautiful finishes. I love the magnet idea and will be using this.
It is so nice to get together with friends that share your passion.
What super cute finishes! I love the fabric you chose for your LHN pieces. Very nice!
Your finishes are absolutely beautiful! I've got the LHN/ Shakespeare's Peddler on order :)
Wow! You really stitched and finished those up quickly! I love both of them, and thanks for posting the tips on how you did the finishing.
Awesome finishing Joan! I took these with me to LAX hoping I'd find some time to start stitching them - sadly, no time for stitching...Glad you had fun on Saturday.
I can't believe how quickly you got these stitched up! Way to go! They are on my 'want it' list from Market.
I also was surprised to read that you all met in White Bear Lake at the quilt shop there!! My sister lives in WBL and hubby and I visit them at least a couple times a year.
Cute, cute, cute finish!!!!! Looks like such a nice weekend too :-).
Beautiful beautiful set. I like the addition of the magnet too.
